From the earliest land subdivision and construction between 1886-1888, to its recent full restoration, the ‘Castrella’ residence continues to be a symbol of community and family & remains the centrepiece of our facility.
Castrella Care is a modern, state-of the art, Residential Aged Care facility established around ‘Castrella’, a two-storey late Victorian Italianate residence, with old-world charm.

Set within the historic landscape of Wentworthville, “Castrella” stands as a graceful reminder of colonial ambition and craftsmanship.
Built circa 1888 by respected timber merchant William Hart, the residence emerged on land once forming part of the vast estates granted to the influential Wentworth family in the early 19th century.
Over the decades, Castrella has borne quiet witness to the evolution of the district—from pastoral holdings to a thriving community—its walls echoing stories of enterprise, family legacy, and even connections to Australia’s early aviation history.
Today, this beautifully restored residence offers a rare opportunity to live within a piece of living heritage.
Thoughtfully reimagined as a residential aged care home, Castrella harmonises timeless architectural charm with contemporary comfort and compassionate care.
Residents and their families are invited to experience not merely a place to live, but a place rich with character—where history is preserved, stories are honoured, and each new chapter is lived with dignity, warmth, and a sense of belonging.

We are a not-for-profit Christian based facility that aims to provide caring service and support for the needs of elderly Jehovah’s Witnesses, many of whom have spent their lives ministering to others and now find themselves in need of care due to old age or infirmity.
By providing a home where they can feel safe, valued & spiritually provided for, we hope to show appreciation for their life’s work, reflecting James 1:27 “…to look after orphans and widows in their tribulation…”.
We believe that every person we care for has the right to live in peace with dignity, respect and security. That right does not diminish, irrespective of age.
People in supported accommodation have the same human, legal and service rights and responsibilities as everyone living
in Australia, as well as the need to live in harmony also respecting the rights of others.
We welcome people from all cultural and linguistic backgrounds. We convey compassion, kindness, respect and honesty in our work. Our staff and volunteers encourage and empower those we care for to choose their own path. Mindful of how we ourselves would like to be treated, we aim to provide a caring atmosphere of Christian love and understanding. As Jesus encouraged, “…love your neighbour as yourself!”
There are no fixed visiting hours. Your family and friends are welcome to visit any day of the week and we encourage you to maintain as much community contact and involvement as possible. However visitors should at all times be mindful of the needs of all residents with regards to noise and privacy. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Please note, there may be visitor restrictions at times of infection outbreaks or as directed by NSW Health and Public Health Unit. These restrictions will be communicated as they change.
Castrella Care operates under the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, which set out what you can expect in terms of safe, high- quality, person-centred care. These standards focus on your dignity, rights, independence, choice, and wellbeing, and we are committed to meeting or exceeding the outcomes and requirements of each standard.
Consistent with the vision of the aged care sector’s Aged Care Diversity Framework, we aim for all people to experience a high-quality aged care system that ensures equitable access and outcomes and embraces their diverse characteristics and life experiences.
